Chapter 27: We Can Sleep On The Floor

Image
Happy P-day everyone! This week has been such an adventure!  We had Zone Conference on Wednesday, and it was in this really cool old chapel. It was built in the 19 somethings, and I was in awe when I first saw it. It reminds me of a murder mystery place, in a good way! The conference itself was also really really good! I love meeting with other missionaries and getting to hear from our mission president and his wife. The Spirit was so strong, and I left feeling uplifted and ready to face the world.  On Friday, we went on exchanges! I stayed in our area and Hermana Squire came with me. We were able to get in contact with a friend who was being taught last year, and she said we could come back! Then we got a referral, which is when somebody fills out a form online saying they would like to meet with the missionaries. We called him, and he only spoke Spanish. So Hermana Squire was able to talk with him and give him the information for church! It was such a little miracle because ...

Chapter 26: Have You Eaten?

Hello friends! This week has been pretty crazy, but I don't even remember what happened haha  We got to do service for a really nice non-member who is a biologist! She was telling us all about different types of plants and animals, especially birds. I learned so much about hummingbirds during the short time we were there, so it was really fun!  We went to stop by one of the Marshallese families in the ward, and they wanted us to come back every Monday and do Family Home Evening with them. So we visited them yesterday, and they are so sweet! They always ask if we have eaten, and apparently she signed up to feed us every Monday from now on. However they have a few people living with them, and they only speak Marshallese. So they read all the verses in Marshallese and it is almost impossible to understand. I can only pick out Jesus and baptism haha. One of my goals is to learn a few words in Marshallese, so I can follow along with the verses.  On Saturday, at the Visitors' C...

Chapter 25: Hello Tualatin!

Image
Happy Tuesday everyone! I have some very exciting news! After being in the same area for 1/3 of my mission, I got transferred! I am now in Tualatin, which is just across the freeway from Lake Oswego, but I'm excited for the change. And even more exciting news, I am with Sister Hyde again! (She was my MTC companion) We are also Sister Training Leaders, and it will be a new and exciting journey for both of us. I'm so excited to be in a new area and to continue to find God's children that are ready to hear about the Gospel.  After transfers, we had a lesson with a member who wants to come back to church! We met him at a diner, and as we were getting to know him, he started telling us (very loudly) how Oregon is sinful and how he hates everyone here. We tried to keep the conversation centered on church and Jesus Christ because we didn't want anyone around us to react to what he was saying. Then we went and played volleyball with the Marshallese group that is in our ward, an...

Chapter 24: Short And Sweet

Image
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I got to go on exchanges this week, so I went with another Sister to her area. And it was so much fun! We got to do service for an older woman in their ward, and I met some really nice people. The day itself wasn't super eventful, but I learned a lot. One major thing I learned was to make every situation positive. The Sister I was with, Sister Ostler, was so positive about every interaction we had, even if it didn't go too well. I realized that I need to look on the bright side of things, and that I will be happier if I do. We have two new friends that we are teaching, and I actually haven't met either of them. They were both taught the day we did exchanges, but they sound so amazing! They want to find truth and come closer to Jesus Christ, so it is really exciting!!  Spiritual Thought: Some of my favorite verses I read from The Book of Mormon this week are Mosiah 24:12-15. They talk about how Jesus Christ hears our prayers a...
