Chapter 34: Car Bread
Hey everyone! We finally got some sunshine this week, and it has been so nice!
On Wednesday, all of the Visitors' Center Sisters and Senior couples have breakfast together and then have training, but this week we got to help the grounds workers plant flowers in front of the Visitors' Center! It was so much fun, and we were able to get a lot done because there were so many of us. Then one of the workers told us his conversion story. I love hearing how others came to know that the Gospel is true, and his story was really inspiring and uplifting.
We were able to have a lesson with Mia, our young Marshallese friend, Wednesday evening! We talked about faith, and how it is like a seed. Which was the perfect topic, because she was growing plants in one of her classes at school. Then when we saw her on Friday, she remembered what we had talked about! It has been so much fun teaching her and seeing her love for Jesus Christ.
Then, on Saturday, such a sweet miracle happened. I don't remember if I have talked about Kaylynn before, but she is a young girl that I gave a tour to at the Visitors' Center last transfer. She was baptized, and has come to do baptisms for the dead. Anyways, she brought her friend to the temple on Saturday! We got to show her friend around, who is thinking about getting baptized, and it was such a sweet experience. Then at the end of the tour, she told us that she wants to serve a mission! She said that she loves sharing the Gospel with others and she loves the way that it makes her feel. She is so incredible!
Funny story, so we went to visit a member who isn't in our ward, but is someone we are hoping to connect with a friend that we are teaching. We went and talked for a little bit, and then as we were leaving, she asked if we wanted some homemade bread. Of course, we weren't going to say no to that, so she starts to cut us some and then tells us that she cooked it in her car, so she calls it car bread. We took it, but then after further inspection decided that it might not have cooked all the way through, so now it's sitting on our counter.
Spiritual Thought: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30) I have heard these verses many times throughout my life, but I have found an extra sense of peace in them this week. Too often, I try to do everything by myself, but the reality is that I'm not alone. Jesus is in the yoke with me, and He is there to shoulder some of my burdens. I just need to turn to and rely on Him.
Have a fabulous week! Love you all!
Love,
