Chapter 35: 9 Months!!
Hello everyone! I hope it is sunny where you are, unlike the rainy weather we are getting here.
Even though me and Sister Weber are the only sisters in our zone, we got to go on exchanges this past week! We went with some of the sisters in the Lake Oswego zone, so it was super fun. I stayed here in Gaarde with Sister Owens! She is an ASL sister, so we got to visit someone in our ward who is deaf. We were able to connect with her and help her feel of God's love, and even though I couldn't understand what they were signing, I felt the Spirit very strongly. It was a super awesome exchange and I learned a lot from her.
This week, we were able to have a lesson with our friend Heidi, and it went pretty well. We listened to one of President Nelson's conference talks, and she really enjoyed it and felt the Spirit. We were also able to talk to her about the importance of covenants and about getting baptized. She told us some of her concerns, so now we know how to help her make that next step in her spiritual progression.
We had so many fun experiences this week! - We got to have dinner with one of the Marshallese families in our ward, and it was super awesome! They told us about the Marshall Islands and how they had joined the church.
- Sister Weber and our VC Directors convinced me to try sushi, so on Saturday we went to a sushi place for dinner. And I can proudly say that I did try a California roll! Was it my favorite, no. Will I try it again, maybe. But I did it eat quite a few pieces, so that's something to be proud of.
- Also on Saturday at the Visitors' Center, we had to babysit a couple that was taking wedding pictures. Since the temple is under construction, we have to be with everyone who wants to go on the grounds. So we sat with them for about an hour while they took pictures. They were Russian, Ukrainian, and Romanian! We were also able to talk with the two bridesmaids and teach them about the temple and what we do inside. So it was a super cool experience!
Spiritual Thought: Missionary work can be pretty difficult at times, and I have definitely experienced some hard times. However, I am so grateful for the personal guidance that I have been given in my Patriarchal Blessing. This week, I read my blessing again, and it is amazing how it can help us no matter what situation we may be in. I feel God's love when I read mine, and it helps give me peace and hope. I invite all of you to read your patriarchal blessing this week, and I know you will find that same peace and love.
Love you all! Have an absolutely incredible week!
Love,
- Sister Willie
