Chapter 45: Just Living Life
Hi family, friends, and fellow missionaries! I hope you have all had a wonderful week. This week has been crazy and fun all at the same time.
We went to go and visit a man named Omar that the Elders were teaching before we started covering the area. So we knocked and he let us in! We were so excited to talk to him and teach him, and then it kind of went downhill from there haha We didn't get a word in pretty much the whole time, and he just talked all about how there are so many words, including Jesus Christ, that have so much pagan influence to them that he refuses to say them. So half of our conversation, he was just spelling words at us. So.... it was a really interesting conversation, and we were glad to be out of there. His wife also offered us pomegranate juice and smoked salmon, which we politely declined.
I also got to go on exchanges this week! I stayed in my area with Sister Andersen, and it was so much fun! We got to visit a member of one of our wards who hasn't come to church for a long time. She was so sweet and absolutely hilarious. She invited us to come back for dinner because she wants to make us something called crab louie, even though I already told her I don't like crab. Anyways, we were also able to meet with a few of our friends and have some super good lessons. Sister Andersen is such an incredible missionary, and I was so glad that we got to spend the day together.
This week we saw how God truly watches over His children when we are keeping our covenants. So our friend Jenny who just got baptized, lost her job this week and the family she is living with told her that she needs to find somewhere else to live. She was so stressed and upset. We were praying so hard for her, and then at church on Sunday she told us that she had found a job!! And she has two places she could potentially live! God is so good! Jenny later told us that she realized she wasn't putting God first, and when she started to do that again, everything worked out. It was such an amazing thing we got to see.
Spiritual Thought: I read this verse in The Book of Mormon this week, and I love it so much! It is Mosiah 2:22-
"And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you."
I love how simple and powerful this verse is. It shows us that all we need to do is keep the commandments and God will bless us.
Love,
