Chapter 53: New Skills Unlocked

Happy Wednesday everyone! We took our turn in the Visitors' Center this Monday, so we get the rest of our P-day today!

Last Wednesday, for our Visitors' Center Training, we had the opportunity to help on the grounds of the temple. With a few other Sisters, we helped plant Vinca, commonly known as Periwinkle, by the reflection pool. It was really fun to be able to help the gardeners make the temple look beautiful. After we were done, the head gardener, Brother Yates, shared his conversion story with us. It was so cool to hear how the Gospel had changed him, and how he had helped others come closer to Christ throughout his life.

This week, we got to go on exchanges! I stayed here in our area, and Hermana Barnes came with me. It was such a fun day, and we saw so many different miracles. We had a lesson with our friend, and she was able to receive a priesthood blessing. It was a very powerful, spiritual experience for her and for us. Then, she came to church on Sunday!! We also got to have a lesson with one of our new friends, Kaivosh. He is from Iran, and he shared his experience with us when he knew that Jesus Christ was the Son of God. It was such a fun day, and I loved being with Hermana Barnes. She is so fun and she inspired me to be better.

Update on Jimmy- he didn't quit smoking like he said he would, which is sad. He did make a new plan to quit, so hopefully he will be able to follow through and stop smoking. Please keep him in your prayers, because the adversary is working really hard to stop him from being baptized.

Funny story: Our car has been saying that we have had low tire pressure for a little bit, but we had checked and it was completely fine... until it wasn't. On Sunday, we went to leave our apartment, and it was flat. So we called the Elders and they came and helped us change it, and we got it patched. Well, the next day, it was flat again! So we had to go back and get it patched one more time. Needless to say, I know how to change a tire now thanks to Elder Brooksby.

Spiritual Thought: This week, I studied Jacob 5 in the Book of Mormon. It is the longest, and some might say one of the most confusing chapters in the Book of Mormon. However, as I studied it and reread it, I was amazed at the plain and precious truths that it contains. One thing that stuck out to me was how much work and effort is put into helping us flourish and grow. In the chapter it talks about how they dug, pruned, and nourished each tree. I know that Jesus Christ is helping us in so many different ways, and that He will labor with His might so that we can grow and become better.

I love you all! Have a great week and don't forget that God loves you!!

Love,
- Sister Willie
