Chapter 63: It's Christmas Time!
Hello friends and family! I got to serve at the Visitors' Center this Monday, so I am taking the rest of my p-day today!
One of my highlights this past week was Thanksgiving!! It is my favorite holiday, and we had a really great day. We delivered cookies to some of our friends and members. Then we had dinner with one of the member families, and it reminded me a lot of Thanksgiving dinner at my house. Everyone was crowded together with good food and fun conversation. We also had the opportunity to do service for a woman in one of the wards in our stake. We decorated Christmas stockings that will be filled with things for the homeless people that live in this area. It was a lot of fun, and it helped usher in the Christmas spirit.
I also got to go on exchanges this week! I stayed here in Glendoveer, and Hermana Sullivan came with me. We had a fun day complete with some knocking and lessons. It was really great to be able to serve with her for the day. We had a really good lesson with our friend Babone and his family. We taught about the Holy Ghost and how when we take the sacrament we can feel the peace that the Holy Ghost brings. It was really good and he seemed to understand what we were saying.
Then he came to church on Sunday with two of his kids! We were getting worried that they wouldn't come, but then we saw them walking up to the church from the bus stop. Also, our friends Muhoza and Noella were both able to come! It was such a blessing to have our friends come to church since that is something we have been struggling with these past couple of weeks.
Funny story: We got a call from a member who said that there are some people living in this hotel turned rental place that need some help moving out because they are closing the place down. So, the whole zone shows up to help these people pack and move. It was in an old hotel, so we ended up walking down the halls knocking on all of the doors. And none of the people needed help packing, so it felt just like a normal day knocking an apartment complex haha
Spiritual Thought: Every year The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a new theme for Lighting the World with the light of Christ during Christmas time. This year, the theme is "Be Someone's Angel". I know that we each have the opportunity to be an angel in someone's life. I would like to invite you all to look for something you can do each day to be an angel in someone's life. I know that as you do, you will be able to find small and big things to do to help those around them. And you will help them feel the love of our Savior.
I love you all! Have a great week and listen to some Christmas music!
Love,
- Sister Willie
