Chapter 29: No Hablo Español

Welcome back to your regularly scheduled weekly email! I hope you are all doing amazing and that this past week has been great!


This week I got to go on exchanges, and I went to the Spanish area with Hermana Christiansen, even though I hardly know any Spanish. All I know is Yo como manzanas, thanks to Duolingo, and I never had to use it haha. Even though I wasn't able to communicate with the people we met, it was a really good experience. Hermana Christiansen is incredible and made up for my lack of Spanish knowledge. We even found a new friend for the Hermanas to teach! It was so much fun spending time with Hermana Christiansen and meeting so many wonderful people. 


We had so many incredible experiences at the Visitors' Center this week! We got to meet a lady named Sarah, and when she found out that both me and Sister Hyde's first names are Sarah, she freaked out. It was such a good tour, and she was so sweet! She found so much peace at the temple, and we were able to help answer some questions she had. Then, on Saturday, we had the opportunity to give a virtual tour to a man from Spain! He got baptized in December, but he can't make it to the temple because it's too far away. So his missionaries encouraged him to do virtual tours at temples around the world. He shared his conversion story and testimony with us, and it was so powerful! 


Spiritual Thought: General Conference was this past weekend, and it was so amazing! I learned so much and the Spirit was really strong as I listened to the words of the Prophet and Apostles. All of the talks were really good, and I loved the emphasis on temples and Covenants. Our covenants are what bind us to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and as we make additional covenants we can come closer to them. I also love the scripture that Elder Bednar shared: Psalm 46:10. " Be still, and know that I am God..." We need to find time to be still and truly come closer to God.

Chapter 66: Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful day!  We had transfers last week, and my new companion is Sister Hailstone! She is also from Utah, and she is literally so sweet. I have already loved serving with her and experiencing her kind and thoughtful spirit. I am excited to serve with her this transfer, and I know that we will see miracles. And another little fun fact is that this transfer is 7 weeks long, and it is sadly my last transfer which feels so unreal to say. But I am excited to work hard in Glendoveer with Sister Hailstone!  This week, we have been trying to meet with our friends so Sister Hailstone can get introduced to them. And we have had some really amazing lessons with them. We had a wonderful lesson with our friend Mary, and we were able to find out a few of her concerns. Then she came to church on Sunday with her son! It was such a miracle and I am excited to continue to teach her and her son about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  On Thursday...

Chapter 16: Saturday P-Day!

Hey everyone! I was at the Visitors' Center on Tuesday, so I have the rest of my P day today! Since it has been so long, I don't really remember what has happened, but I will share some highlights.  We have a new person that we are teaching! His name is Cooper and he is so cool! Sister Davis found him on exchanges so the first time I met him was at a scripture study group. He is interested in learning more, and we gave him a Book of Mormon!  Also, we stopped by our friend Brian's and we brought one of our members with us and they really hit it off! Hopefully, he will come to church now that he knows somebody. We are keeping our fingers crossed!  Another cool experience, we had a lesson with a super sweet older lady who is the mom of a member. She isn't interested in joining the church, but it was nice to talk with her and learn more about her beliefs. Chapter 61: Beaverton --> Gresham

Hello everyone! I hope you have all had a great week! We had transfers this past week, so I had to say goodbye to all of our friends and ward members in Beaverton and Summerlake. It was bittersweet, but I am so grateful for all the relationships I have made serving in these two wonderful wards.  I am now serving in Gresham in the Glendoveer ward!! I am companions with Sister Webb! She is super awesome and I am really excited to serve with her. Gresham is on the opposite side of the mission from my last area, so it is really different. But I know that this is where the Lord needs me to be and I am looking forward to all the people I will meet and serve!  I have already been able to meet quite a few of our friends and have lessons with them. Our friend Mary is so sweet, and we were able to have a really good lesson with her about the sacrament and baptism.
