Chapter 57: I Love To See The Temple

Hello everyone! We got to go to the temple today, so our p-day got switched to Tuesday for this week.

We got to go on exchanges this week! I stayed here in Beaverton and Sister Nowlon came with me. It is her first transfer as a missionary and she is from Canada. So what happens when you put a Canadian with an American? MIRACLES!! We had such a great exchange and we were able to have quite a few lessons. One of the biggest miracles was that we finally got to meet an inactive member for the first time! It was a super awesome exchange!

We had two miracles happen on Sunday! One was when we were welcoming people into church. One of the members of the Summerlake ward, who has recently started coming back to church, came over to us and introduced us to her daughter. She is 10 years old and she wants to get baptized! It was so out of the blue that we were both kind of shocked, but we know that it was the Lord. We are so excited to start teaching her daughter and help her be baptized! The second miracle was that we were able to attend Whitney's baptism! She was someone that we gave a temple tour to a few weeks ago, and we were able to go and celebrate her baptism with her. It was such a special day and she was so excited to see us!

Quick update on Jimmy- He is still really trying to be baptized on November 7th, and he was able to come to Whitney's baptism, so that helped him see what his next step looks like. Then we met with him yesterday, and I was really bold with him, and invited him to stop buying cigarettes so he can get baptized. He said that he wouldn't buy any more and that he would give away the ones that he had. So keep praying for him, so he can get baptized on the 7th.  

Funny Story: On Monday, we got a text from our recent convert asking if we could come and pray with her. After p-day was over, we went to her apartment to say a prayer together. However, she was cooking dinner and asked us to wait just a couple of minutes. It didn't take us long to figure out that she was cooking all of us dinner, even though we had already eaten. So we both decided to just eat a little bit, but she kept pushing the food towards us and telling us to eat more. We both ended up eating around 3 plates of rice and beans, and even then, the rice bowl wasn't empty. So she sent us home with some food, and then we couldn't breath for the rest of the evening haha

Spiritual Thought: This week, we were able to have Zone Conference, which is where we get together with a bunch of other missionaries and hear from our leaders. It was a wonderful conference, and there were so many things that stuck out to me. One thing that our mission president talked about was the question that Jesus posed to his disciples: "Will ye also go away?" As I pondered this question, I was reminded that I chose to follow Jesus Christ and be a missionary before I was born. And that I am choosing to do that same exact thing right now. We all chose to come to Earth and follow Christ once, but we all need to make that decision for ourselves again now. I know that as we follow Christ and don't move away from Him, that we can have greater peace and purpose in our lives.

Chapter 66: Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful day!  We had transfers last week, and my new companion is Sister Hailstone! She is also from Utah, and she is literally so sweet. I have already loved serving with her and experiencing her kind and thoughtful spirit. I am excited to serve with her this transfer, and I know that we will see miracles. And another little fun fact is that this transfer is 7 weeks long, and it is sadly my last transfer which feels so unreal to say. But I am excited to work hard in Glendoveer with Sister Hailstone!  This week, we have been trying to meet with our friends so Sister Hailstone can get introduced to them. And we have had some really amazing lessons with them. We had a wonderful lesson with our friend Mary, and we were able to find out a few of her concerns. Chapter 16: Saturday P-Day!

Hey everyone! I was at the Visitors' Center on Tuesday, so I have the rest of my P day today! Since it has been so long, I don't really remember what has happened, but I will share some highlights.  We have a new person that we are teaching! His name is Cooper and he is so cool! Sister Davis found him on exchanges so the first time I met him was at a scripture study group. He is interested in learning more, and we gave him a Book of Mormon!  Also, we stopped by our friend Brian's and we brought one of our members with us and they really hit it off! Hopefully, he will come to church now that he knows somebody. We are keeping our fingers crossed!  Another cool experience, we had a lesson with a super sweet older lady who is the mom of a member. She isn't interested in joining the church, but it was nice to talk with her and learn more about her beliefs. Chapter 61: Beaverton --> Gresham

Hello everyone! I hope you have all had a great week! We had transfers this past week, so I had to say goodbye to all of our friends and ward members in Beaverton and Summerlake. It was bittersweet, but I am so grateful for all the relationships I have made serving in these two wonderful wards.  I am now serving in Gresham in the Glendoveer ward!! I am companions with Sister Webb! She is super awesome and I am really excited to serve with her. Gresham is on the opposite side of the mission from my last area, so it is really different. But I know that this is where the Lord needs me to be and I am looking forward to all the people I will meet and serve!  I have already been able to meet quite a few of our friends and have lessons with them. Our friend Mary is so sweet, and we were able to have a really good lesson with her about the sacrament and baptism.
