Chapter 58: Portland, Miracles, And Books

Hello friends!

We had some really amazing and cool tours at the visitors' center this past week. We got to give a virtual tour to a man from Ireland named Gerard. It was so fun to talk with him and hear all about what the temple meant to him and hear how excited he is to get a temple in Dublin. Which is one train ride away from him! It was such a great experience to be able to talk with him. Then we gave a tour to a man who got lost coming to the temple, so the missionaries sent their member to go and rescue him. It was kind of crazy, but he made it and he will hopefully get baptized soon!

One really awesome miracle that happened yesterday is that our friend Pius came to church and he brought all four of his kids!! It was so cool! We talked with them after and all of them really enjoyed primary. Then we were able to set up a time to go over to their apartment to read scriptures together! It was so awesome to see him and all of his kids at church. Jimmy also came to church yesterday which was great! He smoked his last cigarette in front of us on Wednesday at our lesson, but then proceeded to smoke again on Friday. So it is something that he is still working on, so please keep him in your prayers so he can get baptized on November 7th.

Also, another crazy thing that happened yesterday was one of our members found out that she is allergic to a bunch of different foods, so she asked us if we would be interested in taking some things. We went over to her house to pick it up, and she had a little wagon full of food for us. It was crazy! So this week we will be eating like kings haha

Today, half of the Visitors' Center Sisters, we were able to take a trip into Portland together and go to a book store. It was literally like heaven on Earth because there were so many different books that were available. They even had a whole room dedicated to rare books, which was really cool. We also got to eat at Raising Canes which was another piece of heaven. It was such a fun experience to walk around Portland and be with people that the Lord knew I needed in my life.

Spiritual Thought: I was reading a talk from Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf called Continue in Patience, because I have been trying to work on my patience. The whole talk was really good but I loved when he said:

"Patience is a process of perfection... Patience means to abide in faith, knowing that sometimes it is in the waiting rather than in the receiving that we grow the most."

I love how being patient is a process and that it will one day lead us to become perfect. Even though we will all have trials and struggles, as we patiently wait, the Lord will bless us with so much.

I hope you all have a great week and a Happy Halloween! Love you all!!

Love,
