Chapter 59: Counting My Blessings

Hello everyone! We are having our extra pday today after taking our turn to serve at the Visitors' Center this past Monday.

We saw so many miracles this week! We were able to have a sit down lesson with Pius and his family. We met his wife, who is really really sweet, and he also invited one of their uncles to join us! It was so cool to be able to teach all of them about the Book of Mormon. They are interested in learning more and continuing to meet with us and come to church! It has been a dream of mine to be able to teach a family on my mission, and now I have the opportunity to do that!

Update on Jimmy- we took him to the temple and gave him a tour around the grounds. He loved being able to go inside the indoor atrium and feel the peace that comes from being inside the House of the Lord. We were bold with him and told him that if he wanted to get baptized on the 7th, he couldn't smoke anymore. And he is doing it! Jimmy is going to get baptized tomorrow!! It has been so incredible to see him learn and grow. Thank you all for your prayers, and I know that they helped him get to where he is now.

This past Friday, we were able to go on exchanges! I went with Sister Burton and Sister Barton in their area! It was kind of a crazy exchange, but it was really fun. We were able to knock some doors and talk with a few people. None of them were interested, but we had a good time and some good laughs. I loved being able to get to know both of them better and hear about their experiences and the things that matter to them. It was a really fun day, and I enjoyed spending it with them.

Since this past week was Halloween, we got to have a party with the missionaries that serve in the areas around us. We aren't allowed to go out past 6 o'clock, so we were able to come together and either play basketball, board games, or watch a movie. It was so fun to spend the night together and have fun. I love being able to spend time with other missionaries, and I am so grateful for the relationships that I have made here in Oregon.

Spiritual Thought: "And now, saith the Lord—that formed me from the womb that I should be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him—though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the Lord, and my God shall be my strength (1 Nephi 21:5)."

I read this verse today in my studies and I absolutely loved it! I love how it says that even though Israel is not gathered yet, that I will be glorious in the eyes of the Lord. I often have feelings of inadequacy, but this verse helps reinforce the knowledge that as I put in my work, the Lord is proud of me.

I love you all! Have a great week and Happy Fall!

Love,
