Chapter 14: Merry Christmas!!

Image
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you have had a wonderful day celebrating the day of our Savior's birth. This week was great! We got to give a tour at the Visitors' Center to a lady named Sandy, who is our District Leader's friend. She was so sweet, and now she is excited to get a temple recommend and go do baptisms! Also, there is a family who brings food to the Visitors' Center, and they brought each Sister who serves there a present and a bunch of candy. It was so fun, and we each got a necklace of the temple.  On Thursday, we had zone training with our mission president and his wife, and it was amazing! One thing that really stuck out to me is that this is all one work. Everybody that is helping bring others to Christ, is participating in the same work. So when we get discouraged, just remember that this isn't about you. It is about Jesus Christ and His Gospel.  Friday was a little rough because I woke up very very sick, so I took a three hour long nap and woke ...

Chapter 13: New Transfer, Same Me

Image
Hello everyone! We had transfers this last week, and I'm staying in Lakeridge with Sister Davis. I was so stressed about transfers, but it was the most anticlimactic thing that ever happened.  We went and did service for one of our members, and he gave each of us a pair of Nike Airs! They are kind of atrocious in my opinion, but they were a gift so I'm not complaining. On Thursday, we went to go and visit this one guy that was in our area book/app, and he was really nice. But him and his wife are apparently Quakers, so that was interesting. We shared a scripture with them, but they said that they had found the church for them.  Also, we went to visit this one member in our ward, and walked out of there with an elder berry tonic water and mango drink thing. It was so good, but now we have her cups in our apartment lol.  We were able to get in contact with a less active member, and he was so sweet. He basically told us all the stuff he did when he was young and stupid, whic...

Chapter 12: Toga Party!

Hello everyone! I hope you all had an amazing week and have stayed warm. This week was kind of wild. I was able to give a tour at the Visitors' Center on Wednesday, and it was amazing! Alex and Lily were so sweet, and they really loved the idea of doing baptisms for the dead. Hopefully they will continue to learn and grow in the Gospel, so they can enter the temple one day. After the tour, this guy came in with his wife and they fed us some homemade soup. It was absolutely delicious. Then he had these little stones called agates, and he said he would give us each one after we told him "our story". Well I didn't really have a story, so I just told him that I have been a listener my whole life because I am pretty shy. Then he gave me an agate with a bunch of little dots on it, and told me that I was a story collector because I listen. And all the little dots were stories I have collected throughout my life. It was really cool. The day kind of ended on a sad note because...

Chapter 11: Service, Lessons, And Singing In The Rain

Image
Hello everyone! This week has been so great!  We had an in person lesson with Kyle, and it was really good! We stood outside in the pouring rain and talked about the Book of Mormon and Jesus Christ for like 20 minutes until we went inside. Then when we gave him a Book of Mormon, he was so excited to read it! He literally invited himself to read it everyday, so that was really cool.  Then, we decided to walk around a few neighborhoods and see if anybody was out and about that we could talk to. We ran into Sarah, who told us she wasn't interested in hearing a message about Jesus Christ. Then as we were walking away, she asked if we were Mormons. We said yes, and she goes well come on in! We were so surprised, but she told us that she has a friend who is a member that taught her to be kind to the missionaries because we are away from home. She gave us sparkling water and a granola bar, and told us to come back if we needed anything. Then we met Sophie! I have been having a hard t...
