Chapter 32: I'm Trying To Be Like Jesus

Image
Happy Tuesday! This week has been crazy amazing!  We were able to get in contact with a woman who has been taught before. Her name is Angelina, and she is literally so incredible! We had a lesson with her on Wednesday, and holy cow! She is so prepared to hear the Gospel. We were able to help her understand the Atonement of Jesus Christ and that God is her loving Heavenly Father. It was amazing to see the Spirit teach her and her understanding grow. Her heart is so open to the plain and precious truths of the Gospel, and I am excited to see her learn more and feel the peace that the Gospel brings.  Saturday at the Visitors' Center was really great! We gave a tour around the temple to one of our new friends Garrett. He was really nice and really quiet, so we aren't sure exactly what he thought. But he took a Book of Mormon and a Bible, and he seemed interested in coming to church. So we will keep reaching out and see what happens! Then such a sweet miracle happened! I came out o...

Chapter 31: God Is So Good

Hello everyone! This week has been so incredible!  We had transfers this past Friday, and I am staying here in Gaarde. But I got a new companion, and it's Sister Weber! She trained me my first transfer, so it's such a fun reunion! She is so awesome, and I'm so excited to work with her this transfer! We also are the only sisters in our zone, so it will be an adventure! Right after we went to transfers, we went to a party that our Marshallese group was having. We showed up an hour and a half late, and it still hadn't started. They had a whole roasted pig and a giant clear tote full of potato salad. It was crazy but really fun to see everyone!  Sunday was full of so many miracles! We went to visit someone that had been previously taught, and we met Ivan! He talked with us for a long time, and he was so open to the Spirit. We gave him a Book of Mormon, and we are planning on going back within the next couple of weeks! Then as we were walking back to our car, we knocked on a...

Chapter 30: Tender Mercies Are Everywhere

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! You probably weren't expecting this email today, but I was serving in the Visitors' Center yesterday. So I hope this is a welcome surprise. This week has been full of little miracles and tender mercies. Two elders in our zone met a Marshallese woman named Estara a few weeks ago, so they sent us her information since we work with the group. We have been trying to meet her and set up a time to share a message, but we have been unsuccessful. However, on Monday we got in contact with her and when we asked if we could come back she told us to come inside! We talked for a little bit, and we gave her a Book of Mormon. She told us that she believes in Jesus, prays all the time, and loves reading the scriptures. It was so awesome, and such a tender mercy from the Lord.  I got to go on exchanges again this week! I was with Hermana Christiansen in our area, so I knew how to speak the language. It was such a fun exchange and so many little miracles happened. We we...

Chapter 29: No Hablo Español

Welcome back to your regularly scheduled weekly email! I hope you are all doing amazing and that this past week has been great! This week I got to go on exchanges, and I went to the Spanish area with Hermana Christiansen, even though I hardly know any Spanish. All I know is Yo como manzanas, thanks to Duolingo, and I never had to use it haha. Even though I wasn't able to communicate with the people we met, it was a really good experience. Hermana Christiansen is incredible and made up for my lack of Spanish knowledge. We even found a new friend for the Hermanas to teach! It was so much fun spending time with Hermana Christiansen and meeting so many wonderful people.  We had so many incredible experiences at the Visitors' Center this week! We got to meet a lady named Sarah, and when she found out that both me and Sister Hyde's first names are Sarah, she freaked out. It was such a good tour, and she was so sweet! She found so much peace at the temple, and we were able to help...

Chapter 28: Wait, It's April...

Hello everyone! Happy late Easter!  So many fun and exciting things happened this week! We got to do service for a member in the ward that hasn't been open to the missionaries in the past, and it was really good. We pulled weeds and he taught us about gardening, so if you need a gardener... don't ask me because I will probably still kill everything, but I could tell you some tips and tricks. He also let us take two of his orange Starburst flavored sparkling ice bottles, which are so good and I would definitely recommend.  We had an Easter concert at the Visitors' Center and a lot of people came and some missionaries brought their friends! It turned out really good and the Spirit was so strong. Yesterday, we were able to have dinner and family home evening with a Marshallese family, the Lakjohns. They actually forgot they were feeding us dinner, but Sister Lakjohn had a meal whipped up in no time at all. She served us two big plates full, and then Brother Lakjohn brought ove...
