Chapter 36: Best Day Ever!

Image
Happy Wednesday! I am taking my extra p-day today because I was in the Visitors' Center yesterday. I hope you are all having a wonderful week.  We found a new friend to teach this week! Her name is Meka and she is the stepdaughter of a Marshallese member in our ward! She is really sweet, and we are excited to continue teaching her. (hopefully with a translator because she doesn't really understand English all that well) Saturday was quite possibly the best day I have had on my mission! I got to go to Lorelai's baptism! Lorelai is a friend I started teaching in November and kept teaching until I left the area in March. She wasn't able to be baptized for a long time because her mom wouldn't say yes. However, through so many prayers and the power of the Spirit, her mom said she could get baptized. Since I was in the Visitors' Center on Saturday, I was able to go! It was such a special day and the Spirit was so strong. Lorelai was literally glowing, and now she is e...

Chapter 35: 9 Months!!

Hello everyone! I hope it is sunny where you are, unlike the rainy weather we are getting here. Even though me and Sister Weber are the only sisters in our zone, we got to go on exchanges this past week! We went with some of the sisters in the Lake Oswego zone, so it was super fun. I stayed here in Gaarde with Sister Owens! She is an ASL sister, so we got to visit someone in our ward who is deaf. We were able to connect with her and help her feel of God's love, and even though I couldn't understand what they were signing, I felt the Spirit very strongly. It was a super awesome exchange and I learned a lot from her.  This week, we were able to have a lesson with our friend Heidi, and it went pretty well. We listened to one of President Nelson's conference talks, and she really enjoyed it and felt the Spirit. We were also able to talk to her about the importance of covenants and about getting baptized. She told us some of her concerns, so now we know how to help her make that...

Chapter 34: Car Bread

Hey everyone! We finally got some sunshine this week, and it has been so nice! On Wednesday, all of the Visitors' Center Sisters and Senior couples have breakfast together and then have training, but this week we got to help the grounds workers plant flowers in front of the Visitors' Center! It was so much fun, and we were able to get a lot done because there were so many of us. Then one of the workers told us his conversion story. I love hearing how others came to know that the Gospel is true, and his story was really inspiring and uplifting.  We were able to have a lesson with Mia, our young Marshallese friend, Wednesday evening! We talked about faith, and how it is like a seed. Which was the perfect topic, because she was growing plants in one of her classes at school. Then when we saw her on Friday, she remembered what we had talked about! It has been so much fun teaching her and seeing her love for Jesus Christ. Then, on Saturday, such a sweet miracle happened. I don't...

Chapter 33: If The Savior Stood Beside Me

Hello friends! Besides the constant rain and gray skies, this week has been pretty great!  We were able to visit with Angelina again this week, and she is so amazing! She told us that she has a hard time remembering to pray everyday, but when she does it has been really nice. She is so sweet and has such a desire to learn more! We had such a cool miracle happen on Sunday! We went to visit someone that had met with missionaries in the past, and when we got to the house it looked under construction. Then we realized that she was living in a different house a few minutes away, but we decided to knock on the door since we were there. After we knocked, Juán came up behind us and asked who we were looking for. She had been sitting in her car in the driveway! We were able to talk with her and teach her how to pray. She is interested in coming to church and maybe doing a Bible study together! It is so cool how the Lord led us there, because that is where she would be!  We had Zone Con...
