Chapter 58: Portland, Miracles, And Books

Image
Hello friends! We had some really amazing and cool tours at the visitors' center this past week. We got to give a virtual tour to a man from Ireland named Gerard. It was so fun to talk with him and hear all about what the temple meant to him and hear how excited he is to get a temple in Dublin. Which is one train ride away from him! It was such a great experience to be able to talk with him. Then we gave a tour to a man who got lost coming to the temple, so the missionaries sent their member to go and rescue him. It was kind of crazy, but he made it and he will hopefully get baptized soon!  One really awesome miracle that happened yesterday is that our friend Pius came to church and he brought all four of his kids!! It was so cool! We talked with them after and all of them really enjoyed primary. Then we were able to set up a time to go over to their apartment to read scriptures together! It was so awesome to see him and all of his kids at church. Jimmy also came to church yesterda...

Hello everyone! We got to go to the temple today, so our p-day got switched to Tuesday for this week. We got to go on exchanges this week! I stayed here in Beaverton and Sister Nowlon came with me. It is her first transfer as a missionary and she is from Canada. So what happens when you put a Canadian with an American? MIRACLES!! We had such a great exchange and we were able to have quite a few lessons. One of the biggest miracles was that we finally got to meet an inactive member for the first time! It was a super awesome exchange! We had two miracles happen on Sunday! One was when we were welcoming people into church. One of the members of the Summerlake ward, who has recently started coming back to church, came over to us and introduced us to her daughter. She is 10 years old and she wants to get baptized! It was so out of the blue that we were both kind of shocked, but we know that it was the Lord. We are so excited to start teaching her daughter and help her be baptized! The secon...

Hello everyone! Another week has flown by, which is so crazy. I hope you all had a happy week! We were finally able to meet with our friend Jan again, after not meeting with her for a while. She is super sweet and super awesome. We talked all about baptism, and then we invited her to be baptized! She said that it is something that she wants to do, but she wants to make sure she is ready and that the timing is right. We invited her to pray about it, and she was excited to do that. So keep Jan in your prayers, and hopefully she will be able to receive an answer and make her first covenant with God soon!  This week was absolutely amazing at the Visitors' Center! We got to give some pretty awesome tours to some amazing people. First was to an older woman that had lots of questions, and we were able to answer them and help her feel peace while at the temple. Then the Elders told us that the next time they met with her, she said how much she loved it and how she might be coming to church...

Happy October everyone! I hope that you all had a great week!  We had transfers this past week! I stayed here in Beaverton, and Sister Rice got transferred. So I have a new companion named Sister Knerr! She is super awesome and I am excited to serve with her this transfer! This past week we were able to meet with Jimmy a couple of times. He is continuing to push forward and recognize that he needs to have more faith if he wants to quit smoking. When we visited him yesterday, he picked November 7th as his new baptismal date that he wants to work towards. We talked about how we need to grow our faith by doing the small and simple things each day that will build our foundation on Jesus Christ. We invited him to pray every morning and every night and ask God to help him and to give him strength. Please keep him in your prayers as he is working towards making his first covenant with God! This past weekend was General Conference!! I was so excited to hear from our prophet, apostles, and ...
